A majority of Europeans want to see Ukraine in the EU
Novus together with Gallup International:
52% of citizens in the EU want Ukraine to become a member of the EU, the share opposed is 21 %, and 27 % don’t know. In Sweden, support is even higher: 59 % are in favor (För), 12 % opposed (Emot), and 29 % don’t know (Vet ej).
Are you in favor of or against Ukraine becoming a member of the EU?
During the period March 7–22, 2022, Novus together with Gallup International conducted a survey in 24 EU countries, one of the questions being this one.
Novus has previously reported on parts of this, but considered it timely to remind people of the popular support that Ukrainian EU membership has. The survey has also reached those responsible in the EU, and it would not be surprising if it has given the politicians in charge support for speeding up an EU application, as is now being seen.
The survey is based on 23,000 interviews spread across 24 countries within the EU during the period March 7–22, 2022. In Sweden, the survey was conducted by Novus as part of Gallup International’s coordinated European survey.
